Dr. Charlotte Mafumbo holds a Ph.D. from University of Cape Town and a Masters of International Studies of the University of Sydney, Australia. Additionally, she holds a postgraduate certificate in gender and conflict studies from Hannover University, Germany; a postgraduate diploma in social conditions and policies from Copenhagen University; and a BA in History and International Organization from Makerere University in Kampala. She was a Global South Scholar at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva in 2012. Her research interests include conflict management, terrorism studies and ethnicity. Her doctoral work examined the “Uganda’s interventionist foreign policy in Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo”. She is a lecturer in the Department of History, Archaeology and Heritage Studies and teachings on the graduate program in Peace and Conflict Studies as well as at the Rotary Peace Center Program. She has extensive experience in security studies and maintains a very strong partnership with government and nongovernmental agencies. Her current research is the role of women and youth in peace and conflict in the East African Region and terrorism in the Great Lakes Region. She supervises both graduate and undergraduate students.
