Dr. Samson Barigye is a Chevening scholar and Lecturer in Peace and Conflict Studies at Makerere University. He is the Academic Coordinator of Makerere University Rotary Peace Centre. His teaching and research areas, as well as community engagement activities are in the areas of conflict resolution and transformation, international humanitarian law, peacekeeping, post-conflict peace-building and post-war reconstruction, reconciliation, humanitarian assistance, humanitarian-development-peace (HDP) coherence. He is an experienced conflict analyst, conflict prevention and mitigation expert with solid competence in conflict sensitivity, community and social cohesion, as well as reconciliation.

Samson is a practitioner with expertise in peacebuilding, post-conflict programming, humanitarian work, inter-agency coordination and civil society strengthening. He has worked with CSOs, donor agencies, the UN, central/local governments, media and academia. He has provided expert/technical advice to embassies, donors, development agencies, the UN, government agencies, international agencies and CSOs on issues related to Peace Building, Conflict Mitigation and National Reconciliation. Samson has worked in development and humanitarian contexts for more than 20 years now. Samson obtained his education in Uganda, South Africa and the United Kingdom
