Helen Nambalirwa Nkabala(PhD)

Dr. Helen Nambalirwa Nkabala holds a PhD (VID-Stavanger/Makerere University), M.Phil. Theology (University of Bergen), Master of Arts in Peace and Reconciliation Studies (Coventry University), PGDE/ME in Educational Technologies (University of Cape Town), and BA (Makerere University). Helen did the IELTS examination and scored a band 7.5 (British Council).
She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Religion and Peace Studies, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, at Makerere University. Helen has extensively published in the fields of leadership, as well as Religion and Peace Studies. She is well equipped with conflict resolution and management Skillsets, relationship building, reconciliation, networking, and interpersonal abilities relevant for interacting with different partners. She has won and managed grants with the Mellon Foundation, the Cambridge–Africa Alborada Research Fund, UN Women, the Mastercard Foundation, the United States Institute of Peace, The Elsie Fund New York, and she is an AHP Fellow and a Paul Harris Fellow.
Helen has extensively trained UNMISS staff in Conflict Transformation as well as Social Cohesion and the Uganda Police in Conflict Transformation & Peacebuilding. She is the Inaugural Director of the first and so far, only Rotary Peace Center in Africa situated at Makerere University and has served as a member of the Makerere University Council and Chairperson of the Student Affairs Committee (2018-2022). She is a mentor on the Mastercard programme. Helen is a member of the Society of Biblical Literature (SBL), ESEAT, CoLLECT-SIMBA. Currently, she serves on the Makerere University Research and Innovations Fund as a Member of the Grants Management Committee; she is also a member of the Intellectual Property Management Committee of Makerere University, and she is a member & the Vice Chairperson of the Steering Committee of the Makerere University Grants Management Support Unit.
