William Bazeyo is a Ugandan Retired Professor of Occupational Medicine, holding a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery Degree (MB ChB) Makerere University, a Master of Medicine (Occupational Medicine) (M Med OM) National University of Singapore, a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Atlantic International University and a Doctor of Science (Honorary) from Tufts University in recognition of his service to humanity in Public Health in Africa and a certificate in Authentic Leadership Development (ALD) from Harvard Business School.
While at Makerere University, he served as Deputy Vice Chancellor -DVC (F&A) (Finance and Administration) and Dean, School of Public Health, College of Health Sciences. Currently, Bazeyo is CEO of Africa One Health University Network (AFROHUN) https://afrohun.ora/ Chief of Patty Resilient Africa Network (RAN) http://www.ranlab.orq/, Director Africa Centre for Tobacco Control (CTCA) https://ctc- africa.orq/, and Director, Orchids farm Ltd (OHF) House http://www.orchidshousefarm.com Bazeyo is Chairman of the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and Innovation Council, Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, Co-Chair Rotary Peace Center (RPC) at Makerere University, Member Board of Trustees of the MTN Uganda Foundation, Chairman of the Board of Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI). He is a member of the Board, Economic Policy Research Center (EPRC), and Chairs the Board of the Appropriate Technology Center (ATC) at the Ministry of Water and Environment.
He is the Chair of the National Research and Innovation Programme (NRIP) at the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovations – STI at the Office of the President. He is the Government representative on the Busitema University Council and Chairman of the Appointments Committee for Busitema University. His research has been funded by USAID, CDC, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, IDRC, and he has published more than 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals. He is also the Ambassador for Planet Earth for Uganda and the DRC. He is a Melvin Jones Fellow (MJF) of Lions International. Bazeyo was awarded a Gold Medal, the highest civilian honor of Uganda, by the President of Uganda in May 2018. In November 2022, he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award among Heroes in Health Awards (HIHA) in Uganda for leading effectively and efficiently responding to Community Health Emergencies.
