Cohort 7 Peace fellows visit Kyaka II Refugee Settlement and Muhokya resettlement camp

Between February and March 2024, Cohort 7 Peace Fellows visited different study sites within Kampala and the western part of Uganda. Among the visits conducted were the field study trip to Kyaka II Refugee Settlement located in Western Uganda, a study experience that exposed the fellows to the Uganda Refugee Policy, challenges faced in the refugee communities, and home-grown solutions to address the issues raised. The fellows also visited communities affected by the rebel activities of the Allied Defense Forces, a rebel group dominant in Western Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The fellows interacted with the victims and the ex-combatants. The fellows also engaged with victims affected by floods in the River Nyamwamba in Kasese District.
